Resveratrol: Nature of quality resveratrol

Resveratrol is defined scientifically as ‘trans-resveratrol’. Trans-resveratrol is a phytoalexin found in plants. The production of resveratrol in plants is purely on medical basis. Scientists assert that, trans-resveratrol produced by plants is produced as a reflex action triggered by infection by pathogens. Pathogens such as fungi and bacteria attack plants and cause damage to the well being of these plants that have capabilities of producing resveratrol produce this phytoalexin to ward off these pathogens and destroy them. Its this attribute of resveratrol that makes it a very important chemical substances. Doctors have managed to produce resveratrol using a method known as chemical synthesis. The aim of scientific interest on resveratrol is mainly to tap on its usefulness to plants and use it in humans. Research has showed that this is possible and that people who have been eating foods, fruits and drinking juices and wines rich in resveratrol have low pathogen infection rate.
